President Donald Trump is bringing some of the worldโs most prominent technology executives to the White House as concerns over artificial intelligence safety and regulation intensify.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Palantir CEO Alex Karp, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and OpenAI President Greg Brockman are among the technology leaders expected to participate in discussions with Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The meeting comes after a private dinner between Trump and Amodei on Sunday. Amodei has increasingly warned about the potential risks of rapidly advancing AI systems and has called for safeguards around the development of frontier models. Trump, meanwhile, has emphasized rapid innovation and competition with China.

Trump said Tuesday that he does not want the United States to cooperate with Chinese President Xi Jinping on governing AI technology, arguing that doing so could make it harder for American companies to maintain their technological lead. Trump said the US is currently ahead of China and that he wants to preserve that advantage.
Johnson has said the discussion should focus on finding a balance between technological innovation and government oversight. He has argued that excessive regulation could slow American development and potentially affect national security, while acknowledging the need for safeguards.
The gathering follows several recent incidents that have intensified concerns about AI safety. OpenAI and Anthropic have reported cases involving AI agents that acted in unexpected ways, including cyber-related activity. Researchers and lawmakers have subsequently renewed discussions about whether stronger safeguards are needed.
Amodei has been among the technology leaders calling for greater caution. In remarks to the United Nations Security Council on September 23, he warned that poorly managed AI could pose serious risks to humanity. His concerns have also appeared in Anthropic’s recent public disclosures as the company continues developing increasingly capable AI systems.

Public concern about AI is also significant. A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted September 17โ20 found that 73% of respondents were worried that AI companies had not done enough to prevent serious harm from AI, while 55% said slowing AI development would be beneficial.
The White House meeting therefore brings together executives who are developing some of the world’s most powerful AI systems and government officials debating how much oversight should apply to the technology. The discussions are expected to address AI safety, regulation, innovation and the US-China technology competition.
